Looking to try a new cruise ship for your next vacation? Utopia of the Seas℠ is part of the award-winning Oasis Class, and home to never-before-seen onboard attractions. What is new on Utopia of the Seas includes never-before-seen restaurants, stateroom categories, nightlife options and neighborhoods. And because it's only sailing three- and four-night itineraries to The Bahamas and Perfect Day at CocoCay, this ship makes it easy to dial up weekend getaways without sacrificing PTO or having to pull kiddos from school.

Some of the most exciting amenities are the ship's restaurants and bars — there are more than 20 dining options and 23 watering holes to choose from. As someone who loves to chill poolside, I'm delighted that the ship's pool scene is one of its biggest draws (there are five pools onboard, plus multiple waterslides to appease thrill-chasers looking for some exhilarating fun). With so many cool features, you're going to want to do a little research in order to maximize your time. Read on to learn more about what awaits on your next sailing.

Onboard Neighborhoods

Like all Oasis Class ships, this one is home to several neighborhoods with their own distinct attractions, restaurants and atmospheres. There's Central Park®, a lush, leafy retreat where you'll find some of the ship's best specialty restaurants and bars, including Chops Grille℠, Trellis Bar, a newly reimagined take on Izumi Hibachi & Sushi℠, the upscale 150 Central Park and the casual, complimentary Park Café (more on all these dining concepts later).

There's also the Boardwalk®, an iconic open-air zone beloved across Oasis Class ships. Styled after the nostalgic boardwalks and piers of England and the Northeast, this whimsical area beckons with a handcrafted carousel and other interactive features. You'll find Playmakers℠ Sports Bar & Arcade, Giovanni's℠ Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar (with its first-ever outdoor balcony dining space), Sugar Beach℠ serving sweet treats and the classic Boardwalk Dog House. A zip line stretches across this neighborhood, delivering thrills and incredible views of the ship.

You'll find the ship's dining room along the Royal Promenade, as well as Sorrento's Pizza, Starbucks®, Café Promenade, the new Pesky Parrot℠ bar and the Bell & Barley British pub. This bustling thoroughfare is also home to nightlife favorites like Spotlight℠ Karaoke and the Latin-themed dance club, Boleros.

Additionally, the ship debuts the first Suite Neighborhood, located on the uppermost decks. This area is home to the most luxurious accommodations onboard, plus amenities only guests staying in a suite can access. Think five-star dining at the exclusive Coastal Kitchen, a swanky Suite Lounge and a Suite Sun Deck that has its own private plunge pool and plenty of room for guests to soak up the sunshine and views.

Utopia Of The Seas Pools

Pool time is always a top priority when I'm on a cruise, and the pools on this ship are among the most hyped-up Utopia of the Seas amenities. First of all, you have two sprawling, resort-style options to choose from at the ship's aft, plus a pool with a sloping beach entry. These serve as the heartbeat of the onboard pool scene, where musicians and DJs deliver great music all day and where surprise dance contests and even bellyflop competitions can take place at any moment.

If you're looking for a vibe that's a little more serene, you can head over to the Solarium, an adults-only pool area with whirlpools, plenty of lounging space and its own bar. This zone is for guests aged 16 and older, so families with little ones may want to stick to the two main pools. If you happen to be cruising in Royal Suite Class, you'll enjoy access to a fourth pool located on the Suite Sun Deck, a private area exclusive to suite guests.

As if that weren't reason enough to fall for this ship, know that you can also look forward to plenty of prime pool time when you step ashore. Every sailing calls on Perfect Day at CocoCay, where even more amazing pools await — including Oasis Lagoon (the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean), a wave pool and pools at Coco Beach Club® and Hideaway Beach℠.

Adrenaline-Pumping Thrills

Is thrill-chasing your thing? You'll find an abundance of opportunities on this cruise ship. It's home to Ultimate Abyss℠ — the longest dry slide at sea, spanning 10 stories — and this one is 43 feet longer than the others, with transparent racing windows so you can peek out as you plummet.

If waterslides are more your jam, you'll be pleased to learn that the ship is home to Royal Caribbean's notorious waterslide trio, The Perfect Storm℠. It's composed of the Supercell℠, a bowl that spins riders in a dizzying loop before funneling them into the pool below, and the Typhoon℠ and Cyclone℠, twin racers that deliver lots of hair-raising, pulse-pounding twists and turns.

Other Oasis Class favorites include two rock-climbing walls that boast awe-inspiring sea views and a FlowRider® surf simulator where you can shred the swells on your feet or ride them on your belly. There's also the aforementioned zip line that will send you soaring across the Boardwalk neighborhood.

For a memorable round of mini golf, head to Aqua Dunes, a whimsical course sure to delight guests of all ages. And for little ones, adventure awaits at an all-new Playscape℠ designed expressly for pint-sized explorers and packed with interactive features.

Utopia Of The Seas Dining

Whether you're a finicky eater, a self-proclaimed foodie or simply someone who enjoys trying new things, you'll find much to love about this ship. One of the most convenient restaurants onboard is Windjammer Marketplace, serving up more than 200 yummy dishes ranging from "chana masala" (chickpea curry) to a rotating burger of the day. The Windjammer serves breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet-style and there's no need to make a reservation.

Another great option for brunch, lunch and dinner is The Mason Jar℠ Southern Restaurant & Bar, a specialty restaurant that crafts reinvented takes on Southern and Low Country classics. The crispy chicken 'n waffles here are unreal, as are the cinnamon rolls and seafood gumbo. Prefer a taste of New England-style coastal cuisine? Head to the beloved Hooked Seafood℠, where tender Maine lobster rolls and golden Maryland crab cakes steal the show.

Other can't-miss specialty restaurants include Chops Grille℠, an elevated steakhouse that's been earning rave reviews fleetwide for decades. And the fan-favorite Giovanni's℠ Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar offers more seating than ever on this ship, with a terrace overlooking the Boardwalk so guests can enjoy delicious eats al fresco.

Izumi Hibachi & Sushi℠ also gets a new spin on the latest Oasis Class ship. It's the largest one in the fleet, with six teppanyaki tables and a casual window in the ship's Central Park® neighborhood, where you can enjoy delicious Japanese street foods all day long. Poolside, you can look forward to The Spare Tire℠, a food truck on Deck 15 that serves quick tasty bites and handhelds, all complimentary. But in my opinion, the most exciting dining concept to debut on this ship is Royal Railway℠ – Utopia Station℠. The most immersive dining experience at sea, this one-of-a-kind culinary adventure starts with pre-dinner drinks at the station platform and continues with a multicourse feast of spectacular global flavors.

Adventures After Dark

When the sun goes down, the party heats up on this cruise ship. Night owls have their pick of ways to revel on deck, from getting their laugh on at the ship's adults-only comedy club, The Attic, to marveling at daring high-dives and stunts performed by a world-class team of aerialists and acrobats at AquaTheater, home to the largest pool at sea.

Like its sister ships, this one will also dazzle with an extraordinary ice-skating show and two Broadway-style musicals at the Royal Theater. Plus, Casino Royale℠ beckons all day and night with nonstop action and opportunities to win big. Spotlight℠ Karaoke hits all the high notes with thousands of songs to choose from and options to croon for applause on the main stage or reserve a private booth for more intimate performances. And Boleros continues to deliver sultry salsa, merengue and bachata beats courtesy of a top-notch Latin band.

If you're craving a cocktail, you can make a beeline for the first Pesky Parrot℠ in the fleet — a new bar that channels major island vibes with shaken, stirred or frozen fruit-based libations infused with rum, tequila or gin. Afterward, you might make your way to Music Hall for an epic showcase of some of the hottest cover bands in the world. Or wrap your night up at Bell & Barley, a charming English pub that offers UK-themed cocktails and a wide selection of beers and spirits.

Utopia Of The Seas Staterooms

Utopia of the Seas design includes many different kinds and configurations of staterooms to serve a wide range of travelers, from solo cruisers to couples to multigenerational families. When booking your sailing, you'll select from Ocean View rooms, rooms that look out over serene Central Park or the lively Boardwalk, balcony staterooms of multiple sizes, luxurious suites and a host of connected rooms that simplify travel for larger parties.

Utopia of the Seas room types include several new-to-fleet categories. One that I'm most excited to check out is the Solarium Suite, a spacious retreat with 280-degree ocean views and an expansive living and dining area. Booking this suite also comes with VIP access shipwide, plus premium amenities and surprises curated by your own Royal Genie. In addition, there's a large Royal Loft Suite that can accommodate up to six guests comfortably.

But the most impressive digs onboard are without a doubt the ship's next-level Ultimate Family Suite. It encompasses three huge and well-appointed bedrooms and accommodates up to 10 guests, making it a great choice if you're traveling with extended family or other parents with kids. There's an in-suite cinema and karaoke station that set the stage for fun-filled evenings at sea, a corner balcony with a private whirlpool and table tennis and even a two-story slide that young guests (and those young at heart) will love.
