Weekend cruises from Florida just got a whole lot tastier courtesy of Utopia of the Seas restaurants. The new and reimagined eateries onboard the biggest, newest Oasis Class cruise ship are more varied than ever and include a wallop of exciting new concepts and crave-worthy dishes.
Have you been hearing whisperings of a new Utopia of the Seas train restaurant? One of the most notable restaurants onboard is the new immersive at-sea dining experience called Royal Railway℠ – Utopia Station℠. The meticulously designed dining car simulates a locomotive train ride with high-definition screens as windows and food courses to pair with the scenery of your virtual journey. Start with pre-dinner drinks at the station platform and wait for the whistle to blow to kick-start this creative and delicious multi-course adventure that transports you to places like America's Wild West and other iconic destinations across the globe.
The reimagined Izumi Hibachi & Sushi℠ is the largest in the fleet with six teppanyaki tables, alfresco dining areas, and a new private multi-course dining experience curated just for your palette. Expect a mix of surprises alongside classics like snow crab California rolls and tiger shrimp teppanyaki, best paired with sake cocktails. Sister branch Izumi in the Park℠, located in the ship's Central Park® neighborhood, provides a pickup window that serves express bites of Japanese street food favorites like sushi, sashimi, fried chicken and gyoza, plus decadent sweets like mochi and ice cream served in taiyaki bubble cones.
The world's first at-sea food truck just rolled on board, too, and it's one my favorite Utopia of the Seas restaurants. The Spare Tire℠, located on Deck 15's pool deck, features an exciting array of quick poolside bites to keep your stomach satiated, including juicy pulled pork sandwiches in fluffy brioche buns, oozing cheeseburger flatbread, veggie crudités plated with secret sauce and a daily menu of rotating desserts and specials. If you're craving Mexican every day you'll be muy loco for the burritos, tacos and quesadillas at El Loco Fresh®, including a toppings bar with a variety of fiery salsas and fresh homemade guacamole. Another poolside option is Solarium Bistro, which has you covered if you want Mediterranean mezze plates like baba ganoush, hummus, grilled shrimp and Greek salads.
In addition to new dining experiences, Utopia of the Seas also offers Royal Caribbean's popular, tried-and-true staples. Some of the highlights include the Mason Jar℠ Southern Restaurant & Bar, which offers Southern and soul favorites like crave-worthy crab beignets, fried green tomatoes, po'boys, beef brisket with coleslaw, blueberry Johnnycakes and bread pudding made with buttery croissants soaked in vanilla-bourbon custard.
Fish lovers can reel in seafood classics at Hooked Seafood℠, including fresh-shucked oysters, boozy drunken mussels, fried cod, tender salmon and thick crab cakes, to name a few. Meat lovers won't go hungry at Chops Grille℠, where charred beef carpaccio and fresh arugula, Parmesan cheese and truffle mustard dressing whet your palette for bold, tender steaks seasoned and seared just right. Follow the scent of charred meat to discover tender filets, bone-in ribeyes and racks of lamb — all served with deeply satisfying sides like Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, Gruyère cheese tater tots and truffled french fries. Desserts like cool slices of Key lime meringue pie or classic New York cheesecake don't disappoint, either.
Giovanni's℠ Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar has a new two-level cantilevered terrace and a new alfresco dining area, Gio's Terrazza, where you can indulge in Sunday supper-style cooking every day. Enjoy Old-World classics like veal meatballs in red sauce, pappardelle with rich radicchio cream, hearty cheese-stuffed lasagna, spaghetti carbonara and, of course, hand-tossed pizzas hot from the oven.
If you want to go gourmet, book a seat at Chef's Table and sample the smoked tomato soup and scallop carpaccio with yuzu vinaigrette and roasted branzino with lemon confit. Or head to 150 Central Park for fresh, seasonal dishes prepared by seasoned master chefs.
Whether you want a dark 'n' stormy, a pineapple guava sangria or a custom daiquiri, caipirinha or margarita, you'll have no problem getting your cocktail of choice onboard Utopia of the Seas. In addition to the 22 bar and entertainment spots serving cocktails, beer and wine, five live music venues, four spectacular shows and two casinos, Utopia of the Seas is home to a new bar called Pesky Parrot℠, a Caribbean-themed hangout serving fruit-forward cocktails and frozen drinks. The enticing enclave is located on Deck 5's Royal Promenade and is the ideal spot to kick off your weekend with frozen and fruit-based concoctions made with rum, tequila and gin. Select bottles of wine and bubbly are also available here and at most of the ship's bars.
Coffee fanatics can rest easy, too — an onboard Starbucks ensures their caffeine needs will be met. Like other ships in the fleet, the bars and cafés on Utopia of the Seas offer a variety of mocktails, smoothies, premium coffees and teas, milkshakes, Evian bottled water, Coca-Cola products and fresh-squeezed juices.
